Hi,  my name is Caroline Poole and I am a current sophomore in college. I am studying Public health, as of right now, in hopes of going Pre-Med. I have always wanted to be a Sports Medicine Physician because I am very passionate about sports and working out, as well as helping others medically because I was raised with two parents in the medical field. However I see a small problem with this dream of mine...that being my biggest fear is needles. I am keeping my options and mind open to see what could potentially interest me as a future career but whatever that may be I hope it involves helping others in some form or fashion.

I have pretty much grown up always using some form of technology in my education and schooling. I use to use computers at school to take Accelerated Reading tests, I eventually had computer classes where they taught you how to use Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel(the one I never could understand) and I would use those to create presentations and papers for class. This was before the introduction of iPads but does anyone remember Promethean Boards? I loved those. I would get so excited when the teacher would call on me to do a problem on the board just to use a digital pen. Eventually iPads became the new pen and paper at my schools. We no longer had textbooks, paper agendas, everything was through the iPad. I may be one of the few but I actually preferred old school style pen and paper because I would never remember to charge my iPad the night before because my phone was top priority. However it was beneficial, even today with computers has really been useful by being able to access so much, so fast, ant any moment when needed.

Coming into EME I never heard of PLNs before. I never thought to associate media, technology, or others as a Personal Learning Network. Although I am still a little confused of the meaning I do believe I have some people and things that play a part in my Network. Some include Instagram, tutors and teachers I ask for for help, apps on my phone or even paper planners to help me sort my days and priorities, and we can't forget the good ole Internet. I find myself so easily distracted on the internet, I go to look up the weather for today to be able to dress appropriately and end up on youtube watching a documentary on elephants. No matter what I use the Internet for, it still serves me the purpose of learning. Whether that is old or current news by the spread of information.

In Assignment 3, where we were to create a web design what I thought was going to be very difficult ended up being something somewhat easy and simple to do and follow. I went in thinking I needed to be some computer software engineer but I was proven wrong. I learned how to create a web page with multiple files and pages, implement and common license, as well as format the themes on each page. It combined all that we have been learning up to this point in a website page form. There wasn't much that I disliked about the Assignment, only with the exception of trying to format and create columns and sections to make the page pleasing to the eye. I couldn't figure out how to create section boxes on a page. Overall, I think it was an easier to follow and do assignment than what I was expecting.  My Website Diigo after having been using it for a couple assignments now, has become easier and more familiar to me. to use. Diigo is a great source to create groups within your class or f...

Going into EME I had no idea what Diigo was. After having to do a few assignments with it, causing me to navigate it and bookmark on it I can see why many teachers and classrooms choose to use it. Diigo allows me to see what others in my group have bookmarked. When they bookmark it allows me to go to the direct article or website they are looking at without me having to go search it up myself. This is a great tool when a class may all being looking into research or websites and we can all share ideas to help when one may be stuck. However, I have to be honest in the fact it seems a little too confusing for my liking. I am more simple when it comes to sharing whether that just be a huge group discussion post where everyone posts their website or in class. However I can see how diigo not only allows bookmarking but also notes that can help even more.  Blogging as well, was never something I saw myself doing..let alone in a class setting. Whenever I thought about blogging I was ...

I believe that Teacher pages on a website are extremely helpful and beneficial, when used and updated properly. Teacher pages are not as common in the higher levels of learning from all that I have been able find. Typically you see teacher pages for students who are solely in one classroom with one teacher only. After looking through some school websites, with teacher pages I see a lot in common. Typically you will find a description of who the teacher is and little about themselves. They can include where they graduated from, what degree they earned, why they are interested in teaching, some fun facts about them. By doing this, this allows more of a connection and feel for the teacher when you may know nothing about them first hand. On the teachers pages you can usually find a class schedule, homework and assignments, learning objectives, etc. Now that classes are almost all virtual now, we can also notice teachers have places for homework turn ins, questions, zoom office hours, ...
