In Assignment 3, where we were to create a web design what I thought was going to be very difficult ended up being something somewhat easy and simple to do and follow. I went in thinking I needed to be some computer software engineer but I was proven wrong. I learned how to create a web page with multiple files and pages, implement and common license, as well as format the themes on each page. It combined all that we have been learning up to this point in a website page form. There wasn't much that I disliked about the Assignment, only with the exception of trying to format and create columns and sections to make the page pleasing to the eye. I couldn't figure out how to create section boxes on a page. Overall, I think it was an easier to follow and do assignment than what I was expecting.
Diigo after having been using it for a couple assignments now, has become easier and more familiar to me. to use. Diigo is a great source to create groups within your class or fellow classmates to collaborate in research. Using Diigo helps you see what others believe could be good resources to use for a topic or assignment . I can implement the use of Diigo within my classroom to have students work on collaboration in assignments without having to have multiple apps and group discussion posts. Using Diigo helps keep organization within the classroom all in one place. I could have students have group projects or assignments where research is needed and they can work with each other in finding websites or articles instead of by themselves.
Teachers are faced with how to keep their classrooms updated with technology, interesting and interactive, as well as teaching. What goes on behind the scenes of the classroom is what is called Teacher Development. Teachers constantly have to educate themselves on the new and improving technology before maybe even some of the students. They then should look at implementing them within their classroom to teach students as well. Teachers will use the new tools as a way to interact with students and keep them involved. But where do the teachers learn about the new? Most of the time they go to Teacher Development Workshops but they can also find their information online. Twitter is a huge place for teachers to connect and keep updated with education related accounts as well as fellow teachers. They can also go online and find educated related sources to stay updated. Here are some links to some sources.
Hi Caroline, I first wanted to share how much I enjoyed reading your blog post and looking at your website! I love the simplicity of your website, as it was easy to read and was visually appearing! The repetition of the format that you utilized for the "math," "reading and writing," and "science" portion was nicely done! I also enjoyed the "homework" section of your website! The alignment and proximity of the way the columns were structured made it easy to read and understand! Overall, I think you did such a good job at designing your website as I could tell you considered contrast, alignment, proximity, repetition, etc.
